WhatsApp Starts Rolling Out Document Sharing With Meta AI on iPhone

WhatsApp is finally expanding what users can do with Meta AI on iPhone, as the platform has started rolling out support for document uploads directly inside AI chats. The feature appears in the in-chat attachment menu and lets users send files like PDFs and spreadsheets to Meta AI without copying text manually or relying on screenshots, which has been one of the biggest limitations of the assistant so far.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature is available in WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.20.10.72 via TestFlight, although some App Store users reportedly already have access. The rollout remains limited for now, but WhatsApp plans to expand availability over the coming weeks.

Meta AI Gets a More Useful Way to Handle Files

Until now, Meta AI mainly supported text prompts, photos, and videos, which made it harder to work with long documents or structured files. Users often had to take screenshots of pages just to ask questions about the contents.

WABetaInfo explained how direct uploads improve the experience:

“Sharing a document with Meta AI can make it much easier to get accurate and relevant information. Instead of copying and pasting text or manually describing the content, users can simply share the file directly.”

The report also noted that Meta AI can “analyze the document in context” and even “work through it step by step and offer a solution” when users upload files containing questions or problems.

WhatsApp Brings iPhone Closer to Android Rollout

WhatsApp had already started testing the same feature on Android beta builds earlier this month, and the latest iPhone beta now brings both platforms closer together. Users who have access can open the attachment sheet inside a Meta AI chat and check for the new document-sharing option.

The update gives Meta AI a more practical role inside WhatsApp conversations, especially for users who regularly deal with PDFs, reports, notes, or spreadsheets directly from their phones.
